Day 9: Easy Living

By 2 June 2015May 30th, 2023No Comments

Starting off slow today was amazing! If Paris has meant anything to us it’s relaxation. Our plans in total is take the Metro into the City and… Eat? Take a bus tour? Take pictures? Easy.

We started off our day eating an assortment of delicious meats and cheeses with a pairing of Bourdeux that went down smooth sweet with a dry finish. Easily my favorite wine thus far on our adventure. Not good enough to buy and bring back home, but a measuring stick for wines from here on out. We spent an hour watching a cute set of twin girls in matching outfits pick up bottle caps and lay with their daddy in a park at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Under a beautiful cloudy blue sky we decided to jump on Big Bus Paris and see the sites.

When you’re in a city for for three days we recommend getting a Big Bus pass where available. It allows you to see what the city has to offer without spending hours walking around. Today we passed by the Louvre, The Theater from the Phantom of the Opera, Notre Dame and more. We hopped off the bus at Notre Dame to take some photos. We entered to a service in session. We heard beautiful orchestral music with a female vocalist beckoning us into the church. Eventually the priest came up and spoke a few words in French. It was odd to be a tourist inside a church service in action. But I suppose if you attend Notre Dame you need to expect it. Sorry church goers…

Before hopping back on the Big Bus, another feature that makes the ticket worth it, we walked along the Seine river towards a bridge sparking in the sunlight. When we were in Dublin Bethany read an article about Paris tearing down the Love Lock Bridge. If you don’t know the love lock bridge, it’s a bridge where “lovers” from around the globe buy locks and attach them to the fence over the whole length of the bridge. Ugh… I just said lovers, gross. Anyways. Turns out, though it is still coming down, it’s not gone yet so we had a wonderful time buying a lock and attaching it to the bridge. Though not the best symbol of everlasting love, considering it’s being torn down, a wonderful memory to have nonetheless.

We then hopped back on the bus to do a little more shopping before finishing off our night with dinner alone the Seine just under the Eiffel tower tower. We stayed long enough to see the Eiffel tower lit up against the night sky. If you were wondering… it’s pretty awesome. I can’t wait to get some great pictures FROM THE TOP tomorrow night #jealousyet? Yeah you are… Anyways… Time for bed so we can have energy to celebrate my lovelies birthday tomorrow.

Cheers,
B&B
