We’ll miss you the most!

“We should be done packing by 5:00 p.m.” -Bryce

I woke up early, ready to take on the day. “Let’s get packed quick” I said. “There isn’t much cleaning” I thought to myself. Oh the things we say when all our optimism hasn’t been ripped out of us by the cold hard reality of cleaning and packing for a 5 week departure. Silly boy. Bethany, as usual, was right, we didn’t have enough time.

Thanks again to the awesome Broughton clan a lot of the cleaning, that wouldn’t have otherwise been done, got done. It was hard to say goodbye when they left knowing it would be awhile until we saw them again, but the hardest was saying by to Abby. Abby is our dog. She’s a sassy little wire haired terrior doubling as a surrogate child. Seeing her lay down all day head dropped down low knowing something was coming was heartbreaking. Hugging her and kissing her goodbye, yes I kiss my dog… was worse. Maybe worse because as much as Kelly tells me othewise she can’t understand English and all she knows is we’re leaving her. If only she knew, we will miss her the most. Sorry fam… She’s the closest thing we have to a child at this point.

Sometime between my third trip to the dry cleaners to retrieve articles of clothing that had fallen by the way side and our late night trip to Target we gave up on the idea of going to sleep. See, we need to leave our home at 2:15 a.m. to head to my parents to leave at 2:30 a.m. Craziness you say? No argument here. When you’re still packing, sorting an planning at 1:00 a.m. is it really worth trying to lay down and sleep? Probably, but we didn’t.

In fact I still haven’t. That’s right folks I woke up Saturday May 23rd at 6:30 a.m., it is currently Saturday May 24th at 9:49 a.m. and I have yet to sleep. Such is my life during travel… Hopefully when we get to New York I’ll be able to lay down, pop some Z-Quil and snore loudly and publicly. Here’s to the hallucinations setting in…

Cheers,
B&B
