Here’s to early nights

Phil & Kelly arrived late last night and our family was complete. The plan was to leave early to visit the Sky Garden downtown and then head to the British Library for some light reading. After that, we’ll see.

Phil and I walked down College Road and I regaled him with stories of days past, literally. It’s always good to teach the new guy the ropes. We got their oyster cards and waited for the ladies to grab coffee at Graceland cafe where they surely see us as regulars by now. Everyone hopped on the tube and we headed towards The Sky Garden. For the first time as a family we rode the Tube, walked and transferred with ease, 10 out of 10.

The Sky Garden was very cool. On the 35th floor of a London High Rise surrounded by lush greenery and spotless glass we looked out over the city and pondered the meaning of existence. Well, I’m sure someone did. I basically said “wow cool” and turned my camera towards my adorable daughter doing whatever she was doing. In all seriousness the Sky Garden is great, and it’s free, just make sure to book your ticket in advance. Again, thanks Bethany.

We hopped back on the tube and headed towards the British Library to get schooled on “Harry Potter and the History of Magic.” The exhibit was very cool. High Production value. Several rooms decked out with quotes screens, books, trinkets and more. Sadly I’m not much of a browser so I just slowly walked from one side of the room to the other with Adah and Bethany. I would say we saw enough. Everyone else emerged about 45 minutes later, true fans. In that time Adah and I walked up steps and escalators and lifts just to tire her out a bit and tire her out we did. We put her in her dalleck-esque stroller, she slipped out of consciousness and we slipped into hunger.

I’ve heard a lot about a restaurant called Nandos, Eden liked it so we checked it out. I gotta say, it was somewhat overrated. On a scale between McDonald’s and Thai Tom’s I give it a firm Applebees. Not bad, but not great for the cost. Bethany and I were winding down, all day out with a crazy kid apparently weighs on you, who would have thought? We headed with the fam to Leicester Square so the girls could get tickets for a play later and got some final pics with Adah & Grandpa before we headed back home.

I’m learning to re-adjust my expectations. Early nights are okay. Momma and Baby come first before anything else.

Here’s to more early nights.
