London Underwater

It’s become increasingly clear to me that the expectation for families traveling with toddlers needs to be 1 – 2 activities a day, period.

We planned on starting today off early again to maximize efficiency. A energy filled toddler jabbering from 3-6 A.M. threw a wrench in that machine. We meandered out of the house are 10:15 with baby in the Ergo, attached pink dog blanket, looking supa fly so you know we hit up that Graceland cafe to get our morning boost on the way to the tube. Kensal Green stop was closed so we cut over to Kensal Rise overground and got on the wrong train. That’s why you always read the front of the train…

Once we got back on track we headed towards Borough Market well known for flowers, cheese and “the best duck wrap you’ll ever have.” Also the first I’ve ever had. The wrap was sold out so we slummed it with the sandwich. It was delicious. We even gave some to Adah and she lit up. Then I wondered how she would feel eating her favorite cartoon character Duck from the BBC Cartoon Sarah & Duck…

We parted ways and headed to the aquarium. Unfortunately, whatever I Googled was not the aquarium and we spent a very cold, very rainy day with a sad baby strapped to my chest saying “all done, all done, down, poo poo, all done.” when our plan was to spend the day in doors. Two hours later we arrived at the Sea Life Aquarium next to the London Eye. Poor girl was so tired she passed out in the line to buy the tickets. Our entire reason to be here was unconscious, strapped to me, with a poopy diaper. Not fun.

Once we got the tickets I went next door to change her diaper. I unstrapped her, changed her and met back up with Bethany, she never woke up. Poor baby. We had a choice to make. Walk through the acquarium and protect her sleep or risk the wake up. We risked it and it paid off big.

I believe the words “Wow”, “So Many” and “Up” encapsulate her emotional state as we walked from room to room. Also, she dove onto a projection of a jellyfish on the ground. So yeah, she liked it. Today was rough. This made up for it. Thank God for the wonder of children.

We walked home past the London Eye, through the low-ways, high-ways and bus ways and settled into domestic life for the night. Bethany slept, I let Adah watch Netflix and I paroused the days photos. All-in-All a good day and some of us are going to The Island pub later, can’t wait.
